These are fixed mounts, with no articulation, and will work with both the NERD and NERD2. The mounts are 3d printed out of PA-12 nylon in a sintering process, they are quite durable. To achieve the optimal viewing position, adjustment is made by rotation of the mount around the axis of the DSV, or sliding left/right along the axis. They are specific to the DSV/BOV, and also specific to the left or right side. A user should know which is their dominant eye prior to purchase, and which eye they wish to use. Most users will elect to have the NERD on their dominant eye. Notable exceptions would be photographers using magnifying or angled optics. Typically, photographers prefer to keep the NERD on the non-dominant eye, so their dominant eye is on the camera viewfinder.

There are two versions of the mount, each with a left and right variation:

• The Choptima mounts will fit the Dive Rite DSV with and without the HUD rail.
• The 55mm version will fit the KISS DSV, and Golem Gear Shrimp BOV. It can be (and has been) used on other BOV’s and DSV’s with a mounting diameter of 53-58mm, including the Prism BOV, however the design is not optimized for these others.

Plus, each mount is available with a choice of two hardware options:

• Reuse Shearwater Hardware - This design requires the customer to ‘re-use’ some of the hardware from their original Shearwater NERD2 mount. This has the advantage of being less expensive, but also easily field removable. You must have the original Shearwater Research NERD2 mount,
• Hardware Included - NERD1 mounts do not have the required hardware, or if you do not have a NERD2 mount, you will need this version that includes additional hardware. This version does not have the benefit of easy removal, as does reusing the Shearwater hardware.
