The Descent™ X50i, is Garmin's premium dedicated dive computer with a vivid {3 in | 7.6 cm } color LCD display. The X50i also includes support for their SubWave sonar data network including hoseless gas pressure integration (AI) with an optional Descent Tank Pod pressure transmitter.

Announced in November, Garmin advises they plan to begin shipping their new X50i dive computer to retailers approximately the 2nd week of December.

The X50i combines powerful technology and user-friendly design to ensure you have all the essential information at your fingertips. The vibrant 3-inch color touchscreen display lets you view DiveView maps, projected ascent profiles, and in-dive depth charts with ease, ensuring critical information is accessible at a glance, even in challenging underwater conditions. The Descent X50i includes mixed-gas decompression technical diving functionality in a premium large format dedicated dive computer.

The X50i model includes support for their SubWave™ sonar data network which can share real time data — such as remaining dive time, gas consumption rate and more — while underwater during the dive for you and other X50i / MK3i divers within a range of {33 feet ! 10 meters}. The X50i supports cylinder gas pressure integration, sometimes called air integration (AI), with up to eight (8) separately purchased optional Descent Tank Pod wireless T2 transceivers. You can also communicate via preformatted messages with other T2 networked buddies wearing their Descent™ X50i and Mk3i dive computers.

Once underwater, the Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression algorithm with user configurable Gradient Factors allows individual control of your dive computer decompression calculations and stop depths. Full color graphics plus tone and vibration alerts help keep you informed while you’re submerged. During a decompression dive, the Descent can provide time-to-surface based on "look ahead" at planned gas switches along with current ceiling and stop time. Multiple gas definition presets are supported with any combination of air, nitrox, trimix and oxygen. For technical dives, the Descent is user configurable to NOT "lockout" after a missed stop.

The Descent X50i is an easy-to-use large screen premium dive computer dedicated exclusively to SCUBA diving, unlike the Garmin smartwatch models that have a pulse oximeter and include support for other sports and fitness applications. On land, the X50i does include support for pinpoint navigation and topographic mapping (on the surface only) using both GPS and GLONASS satellite signals. An extension of preloaded TopoActive maps, DiveView maps offer bathymetric depth contours for 4,000+ dive sites to help you find where to dive and provide information to prepare you. Thanks to built-in Bluetooth, it supports notifications from a paired smartphone. It's also Wi-Fi enabled to connect and automatically send activity uploads, including your dive logs, for review or sharing on Garmin Connect.
