The XT Backplate design has evolved to include new features and ergonomics for the modern diver. The unique shape contours the diver’s back while generously rounded corners prevent the plate from digging in or damaging exposure suits. This unique shape is now available in a short length. The lighter weight is similar to aluminum backplates, while offering the strength of steel.

The XT backplate is constructed of 10 gauge, low carbon and rust resistant 316L grade stainless steel. This plate is { 2.3 lb | 1.0 kg } and is approximately { 13.5 in | 34.3 cm } high and { 10.5 in | 26.7 cm } wide at the base, { 9 in | 22.9 cm } wide at the top before the corner curve. The depth of the "V" is { 1.25 in | 3.2 cm }, allowing for a flatter fit against the back. The short length is still compatible with the Dive Rite Single Tank Adapter (STA) and backplate harnesses.
