DGX Gears XTRA Regulator includes a balanced piston first stage together with a balanced and adjustable second stage that offers excellent quality, performance and value.

The high performance DGX Gears XTRA Regulator includes a balanced piston first stage together with a balanced and adjustable second stage that offers excellent quality, performance and value. This regulator package is assembled by Dive Gear Express using DGX Gears XTRA first and second stages, together with our flex or rubber hose in your choice of length and also includes a free DIN regulator cap.

The DGX Gears XTRA 1st stage is a extreme-performance design based on a balanced flow-through piston in a PVD chrome-plated brass body that provides consistent gas flow regardless of cold-water, depth, and tank pressure. Two standard high pressure 7/16-inch ports and five standard high-flow low pressure 3/8-inch ports on a swivel turret provide an infinite variety of mounting orientations and hose routing options. The XTRA is available with an optional auto-closure feature on the first stage that shuts the DIN inlet when not engaged on the valve, potentially avoiding the accidental flooding of the first stage. The DGX XTRA first stage comes with a 300-BAR DIN connector and is Nitrox Ready.

The XTRA 2nd stage is a balanced adjustable second stage in a rugged low-weight body featuring metal internal components with increased resistance to freezing when diving in extreme conditions. The large diaphragm and exhaust valve provide responsive inhalation and easy exhalation in all positions. An adjustable inhalation effort knob sets the cracking resistance to your preference and the dive/pre-dive switch minimizes free flow in when used as a backup. The XTRA also includes a long bite orthodontic mouthpiece to reduce jaw fatigue, and the SeaCure #4 mouthpiece will also work.

Any competent service tech will have no issues with service of the DGX Gears regulator models. Our suggested service interval for all DGX Gears regulators is every two years or one hundred dives. There is nothing unique about DGX Gears regulators in terms of service requirements and needs no special equipment beyond that found on the typical regulator technician bench. We believe our customers also have the right-to-repair, so we publish detailed service manuals and we sell without restriction all service parts and periodic service kits for the DGX Gears brand regulators. See the Product Attachments tab of the periodic service kits for service manuals including IPB and torque values.

Stop worrying what other divers will think

I have been diving with the XTRA Regulator for over a couple years now. This reg is AMAZING! The breathability and adjustability was a massive jump from the first cheap regulator set I bought. Originally these were just to help bridge the gap between the very cheap set until I could try out some more premium options and decide on my investment. I have since found myself buying another set for my partner and recommending these to every diver I meet. Admittedly I was worried what other divers, instructors, and mentors would think seeing a whimsical gear icon on my purge valve instead of the goated A or S. Would these immediately flag me as a flight risk? Sparking many conversations and even getting a couple head tilts, at first it wasn't exactly a confidence builder. After several dozens of dives this regulator has proven itself time and time again. So when I took my deep diver ticket and the instructor said you know we are going to 130ft and specifically pointed out you should only use reliable equipment at those depths I said "you bet I trust my life with these". XTRA balances air perfectly at all depths I've been to and has no problem supplying air whether I'm fighting a current or just chugging my SAC rate up. We've taken these things ice diving and we were literally the only ones whose regulators did not freeze or free flow. So if you are on the fence about buying a value priced, high performance regulator, look past sneaking marketing, or paying a luxury tax. I truly believe every piece of equipment you use underwater needs to be personally vetted and tested and that's true for any brand. I have tested many different regulators, I'm not going to say its the absolute best but given its price point, functionality, serviceability and reliability it will be what I primarily dive with.
