DGX Gears XTRA 1st Stage - Demo Unit
The DGX Gears XTRA 1st stage is a extreme-performance design based on a balanced flow-through piston in a PFD chrome-plated brass body that provides consistent gas flow regardless of cold-water, depth, and tank pressure. Two standard high pressure 7/16-inch ports and five standard high-flow low pressure 3/8-inch ports on a swivel turret provide an infinite variety of mounting orientations and hose routing options. The XTRA is available with an optional auto-closure feature on the first stage that shuts the DIN inlet when not engaged on the valve, potentially avoiding the accidental flooding of the first stage. The DGX XTRA first stage comes with a 300-BAR DIN connector and is Nitrox Ready.
Please note that when this 1st stage is sold "raw" as received from the factory and not part of a package, it will have four of the five LP ports plugged (i.e. one LP port will be open) and both HP ports will be plugged.
Our recommended service interval is every two years or one hundred dives. See Product Attachments tab for service manuals. There is nothing unique about the DGX regulators in terms of service requirements and needs no special tools beyond those generic tools found on the typical regulator technicians bench. We sell the DGX Gears XTRA service parts kits direct to the public.
The DGX Gears XTRA first stage offers an extra choice of either a typical standard 300 Bar DIN inlet fitting or a special DIN fitting that includes an auto-closure function. Our service technicians tell us one of the most common reasons for needing an overhaul on a first stage and/or SPG failure is contamination introduced while handing and rinsing the regulator after diving. The auto-closure feature (aka ACD) on the first stage shuts the DIN inlet when not fully engaged on the valve, potentially avoiding the inadvertent introduction of water and other contamination into the first stage. Although the auto-closure feature is popular it is also controversial, some divers who are meticulous with their equipment care feel the auto-closure feature just introduces another potential failure point (causing no breathing gas at all) and prefer the standard 300 Bar DIN inlet fitting. We do not recommend the ACD option for use in technical diving applications, especially where the diver may perform valve shutdown drills. The XTRA gives you the choice of with or without auto-closure, but these demo units are configured with the ACD.
