DGX Backplate - Aluminum
The DGX Aluminum Backplate measures approximately { 15.5 in | 39.4 cm } high and { 10.5 in | 26.7 cm } wide at the base, and { 9 in | 22.9 cm } wide at the top before the corner curve. The depth of the "V" is { 1.25 in | 3.2 cm }, allowing for a flatter fit against the back than other popular models. For comfort it is compatible with Dive Rite XT Backplate Pad.
Aluminum backplates are the most popular with freshwater divers and divers using steel tanks. The { 2 lb | 0.9 kg } DGX Aluminum Backplate has a durable anodized black finish. Compared to bare uncoated aluminum, durable anodized aluminum finishes provide greater corrosion resistance and a better consistency in appearance.
Features a modern laser cut design:
- Mounting hole and slot that allows easy assembly on { 11 in | 27.9 cm } centers doubles bolts without alignment concerns.
- Slots to accept directly threaded tank cam bands for single cylinder diving, making the use of a single tank adapter optional.
- Horizontal and angled strap slots to allow your choice of straight or cross-over shoulder strap mounting.
- Both { 1 in | 2.5 cm } and { 2 in | 5.1 cm } slots to accommodate your choice of crotch strap.
- { 3/8 in | 1 cm } holes along the sides for mounting accessories such as light canisters, inflation bottles and lumbar pads.
- Rounded corners and all edges are deburred to reduce wear on the harness and wing.

Using the metal grommets......
Using the metal grommets, the DGX sleeve can easily be attached to the bottom or sides of any standard metal backplate using assembly screws or attached to the Transpac using medium quick links or the pear shaped quick links. We find that for this application, the plastic assembly screws work just as well as the metal versions and cost a lot less. You can also use ordinary cable ties, but in our experience cable ties don't hold so you'll need to double up.
