The DGX Gears 4550 canister light delivers 4,550 lumens of white light with 4.5 hours burn time in the brightest mode.

† We've never seen a canister light sell like this! We've sold through our first production run of the DGX Gear 4550, but don't worry because we have more on the way. We expect our next production run to arrive by mid December.

The DGX Gears 4550 canister light is an excellent choice to support your cave diving, wreck diving or similar technical diving activities. The light delivers an ANSI/NEMA FL-1 standard 4,550 lumens and the 89 Wh battery pack provides up to 4.5 hours burn time in the brightest mode. The battery pack can be disconnected from the light head assembly and be used as a power bank to charge other devices because it also includes a USB-A power port.

What's in the Box: The DGX 4550 light head and canister lid assembly with umbilical cord, multi-configuration goodman style handmount, battery canister with quick belt mount, battery charger, and spare o-rings for canister. To meet carrier transport regulations, the light ships as disabled with a clear plastic sheet placed between the lid electrical contacts and the top of the battery, which you must remove before initial use.

Charging: Separate the light head assembly from the battery canister by unscrewing at the corded canister lid to expose the round DC power socket at the edge of the canister. (Note the bottom of the battery canister is permanently sealed, do not attempt to open the battery canister itself.) Press the small round button on the top of the battery canister between the DC power socket and the USB-A port; one to four green lights on the edge of the battery canister illuminate to indicate state of charge. If charging is required, plug in the charger to the battery and then plug the charger in to mains power outlet; if the wall charger is receiving mains power a red LED on the charger will illuminate. Once the battery is fully charged, the LED on the wall charger will turn green. Charging time varies considerably depending on the pre-existing charge level of the battery, typically 3 to 5 hours but can be as long as 6 to 8 hours for a depleted battery, and it's normal for the battery canister to get warm while charging. Best practice is never leave charging unattended; then once charged, unplug the charger and disconnect from battery canister.

Operation: Inspect canister body O-rings carefully for hair or other contamination. If the O-rings look dry, leave them in place but smear a small amount of lubricant on the part of the O-ring surface you can see. There is nothing special about the lubricant, any generic silicone O-ring lube used with underwater equipment will work. Screw the canister and corded lid assembly together; do not over-tighten - the O-rings make the seal. Briefly press the button on the light head once for high power on, press briefly again for medium power, press briefly again for low power, press briefly again for off. To "Power Lock" - while light is off, press and hold the button for more than 5 seconds - light will blink twice and power on will become inoperative; very rapidly double press button to unlock.

Post-Dive Maintenance: Immerse the light in clean fresh water for a few minutes after each dive and allow to thoroughly dry before disassembly. We recommend storing the battery with 30% to 50% charge level. If you do not store the battery canister and lid assembled, we recommend covering the top or placing the entire canister in a plastic bag to protect the o-rings and contacts from contamination or short circuit. Some divers like to put a drop of mineral oil on the switch but in our opinion this just "gums up the works"; we recommend simply to thoroughly fresh water rinse the light head such that the switch is kept free of mineral deposits, sand and other debris.
